Frequently Asked Questions

What is Clermont FC’s philosophy?

Our mission is to serve our community and families at the highest level possible. As the children grow within our program, they and their families develop lasting friendships that strengthen our community. We pride ourselves in developing future leaders through a safe, fun and competitive team-training environment.

We will never make “false promises” of college scholarships and “bait and switch” team placements. For us, it is a passion, not a business.

If a child exceeds the level of our highest team for the appropriate age, we have and will continue to refer the family to a club that can facilitate that child’s level of play.

Currently, there are several “former” CFC players that are part of Orlando City’s Developmental Academy program, one of whom just signed a professional contract with OC.

Why do you conduct player evaluations?

At CFC, we attempt to place every athlete on a team based on their technical and tactical abilities. We use these sessions as an opportunity to allow new players to help us continue to build our successful program. Evaluations are used to strategically ensure that no player is placed in a position that will hinder his/her development.  Our aim is to develop players by building teams at various skill levels.

Your prices are lower, but are your teams competitive compared to other clubs?

Yes, however, we focus on Development – all these players will be young adults and then adults and our goal is to aid them in setting a path toward whatever career opportunity they so choose to pursue. The percentages are so low for soccer scholarships and professional soccer careers that some may not choose that career path, so our goal is to facilitate in whatever area we can.

All that being said, if you look at each team in their respective age/division our teams are successful. In fact, within the last two years we have had the Florida champion at the Southeast Regional’s and 3 Champions, 5 finalists and 10 semifinalists at the Florida Commissioner’s Cup.

Are your coaches licensed?

Yes, CFC coaches are licensed through either USSF (United States Soccer Federation) or NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) or both. In some cases, (usually D3/D4), we will utilize one of our licensed, parent coaches to manage a team.

**Note: clubs will try to justify their fees based on the coach’s “level” of licensing. A few of the most successful coaches we have encountered have had either a lower license or no license at all, but were experienced coaches.

It is all in how the message is delivered and received. Bear in mind, these are children playing a sport; they are not professional soccer players.

Are your coaches compensated?

Yes, we issue a stipend to handle a coach’s expenses for travel and their valuable time.  Our licensed parent coaches receive complimentary registration in exchange for a stipend. We, unlike other clubs, DO NOT charge any additional monthly fees. The fees above are the total for the full year (Fall and Spring). In fact, CFC grants each team one tournament fee (up to $500).

Will I be required to pay a non-refundable deposit to secure my spot on a team?

We do not charge families any type of deposit to secure your spotIf CFC is not a good fit for you for any reason, you can leave without penalty (before FYSA roster deadline).

What if I cannot attend any of the dates?

If you are not able to attend any of the sessions, please email us: [email protected]. One of our Directors will contact you to arrange an evaluation and placement on a team for 2019/20.

What session(s) should I attend?

Please attend the session based on your year of birth.

Can I play up in age?

Players may have the ability to “play up” with older players, if deemed appropriate by the CFC Staff.  CFC will adhere to the US Soccer and Florida Youth Soccer guidelines on playing up.  In some cases, the CFC Staff may approve “playing up” to compete in a more appropriate environment based on their skill level.

What if it rains?

If required, information will be communicated via email and posted on our website.

When will practice and games start up?

Practices will commence in late July/early August. Games will begin in August or September depending on your age/team.

Where will I practice and play games?

Practices will be held at fields within Clermont and games are at Hancock Park or Lake Felter Park.

What should I bring along to the player evaluations?

Each player should be prepared with cleats, shin guards, and plenty of water.
